| Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Explained |
How Ultrasound Scanning works
Diagnostic ultrasound works by first transmitting sound waves into the body and then interpreting the intensity of the reflected echoes. This is achieved using a hand held probe which contacts the body via a water based gel. The data collected is then processed within the body of the scanner and displayed as a black and white image generally referred to as grey scale.

What will happen during the examination
Most musculoskeletal ultrasound studies are relatively quick and comfortable. You will be lying on your back or sitting. A clear jelly will be spread over the injured area and the transducer will be moved over the region to look at the damaged internal tissues. Most examinations take less than 30 minutes.
I use ultrasound diagnostically to accurately identify the problem ensuring you obtain the correct treatment from the start, this saves time and money. Ensuring you return to work or leisure activity as soon as possible.
